Ibn Taimiyyah's Wasiti Creed

Audio lectures series on 'Aqidah Wasitiyyah' by Ali At-Tamimi

Abul Hasan Al-Asyari's final and settled creed (Taken from 'Al-Ibanah')

Imam Al-Asyari, after abandoning the Mutazilite creed, embraced the creed of Ibn Kullab, which with the passage of time came to be known as 'Aqidah Asyariyyah', the creed spread among vast majority of Sunnis today and falsely attributed to him.
Allah guided him just before he passed away, making him return to the salafi creed of Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal and the other pious predecessors. Unfortunately, his 'return' to the correct creed is not known to many Muslims who call themselves 'Sunnis' and 'Asyaris'.
Below is the Imam's work on his final settled creed.

Free E-Book: The Creed of the 4 Imams

Find out about the creed of the 4 great scholars of Islam; Abu Hanifah, Malik, Syafii and Ahmad Ibn Hanbal and how their fundamentals of faith do not differ at all from that of the Companions and later scholars who came to revive such creed, the likes of Ibn Taimiyyah and Ibn Qayyim.
This is the 'aqidah' which had been finally settled upon by Abul Hasan Al-Asyari before his death and recorded in his final works, 'Al-Ibanah' and 'Maqalat Al-Islamiyyin'. The scholar who is famous for establishing the so-called Sunni creed of 'Aqidah Asyariyyah' had himself abandoned the creed (named after him and to this day followed by vast majority of the Sunnis) to eventually embrace creed of the salaf.
Ibn Taimiyyah quoted that when Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani was asked whether there had been any 'waliyyullah' (saint of Allah) upon the creed other than the creed of the salaf. Al-Jilani replied 'No, there had never been and there will never be'. Thus, proving the necessity of embracing the correct creed even before one is travelling on the spiritual path to Allah. The earliest authentic Sufis like Sufyan Ath-Thauri, Rabiah Adawiyyah, Abu Yazid Al-Bistami, and many others had all been adherents to the salafi creed, which is the only acceptable Sunni Islamic creed.

The Prophet Muhammad

Much has been written about the Prophet Muhammad (saas), from indepth biographies by Muslim scholars and non-Muslim researchers to sayings upon sayings of others. Muhammad ibnu Abdillah was born in Mecca in the year 569 CE. He earned his living as a trader and was known by his people as al-amin (the trustworthy one). When Muhammad (saas) reached the age of 40, the angel Gabriel came to him with revelations that established his prophethood. Muhammad (saas) was first ordered to instruct his immediate family on Islam, including his beloved wife Khadija, but eventually it was revealed to him that he should begin delivering the message to all of mankind. In the next 20 years of his life, he communicated the message of Allah to his people, and set an example for how each human being should lead her or his life. This is especially valuable since Muhammad (saas) is the last Prophet of Allah. In the year 632, the year of his death, the Prophet delivered his famous last sermon.

He was born in Harran, and at the age of six he fled with his father and brothers to Damascus during the Mongol invasions. Ibn Taymiyah devoted himself from early youth to various Islamic sciences (Qur’an, hadith, and legal studies), and he was a voracious reader of books on sciences that were not taught in the regular institutions of learning, including logic, philosophy, and kalam.
